China’s reaction when Apollo 13 had an emergency

Apollo 13” was the seventh manned mission in the American Apollo space program and the third intended to land on the Moon. The craft was launched on April 11, 1970, at 13:13 CST from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, but the lunar landing was aborted after an oxygen tank exploded two days later, crippling the Service Module (SM) upon which the Command Module (CM) depended.

On its way back before it entered the Earth’s atmosphere, the U.S. Government informed governments of other countries about the incident, asking them to help rescue American astronauts. Upon the request, the Soviet Union order the whole country to turn off any radio devices that could interfere the communications from the lunar module. At 18:07:41 UTC, April 17, 1970, it splashed down on Pacific Ocean. The crew were picked up by USS Iwo Jima 45 minutes later.

A Pyramid in China

There is a Pyramid near Wuhan City (武汉) in China. By using Google Map, it locates at latitude 30o32’53.96″ north, longitude 114o26’6.86″, which is pretty close to that of Egyptian pyramid.

Is it an ancient site? No. It was built about a decade ago and was supposed to be built as a amusement park. But it was abandoned after the park was halfway done.

Narrowest Building in the World

Can you believe it? A family live there and work there in the building. This building located at Sanya City, Hainan Province (海南省三亚市). The owner used to have enough land to build a regular building, but the government expropriated part of the land for road construction. As a result, the owner was forced to build such a strange building on the leftover land.

The Narrowest Side Walk in the Word

This is a side walk in Jinan City, Shandong Province (山东省济南市). Its width is only 20 centimeters. The government officials claims that they were forced to build such a narrow street because they must allow two-way traffic of vehicles.

A dolphin stranded at a Sanya beach

See what these Chinese are doing? They saw a stranded dolphin. But they are not trying to rescue the dolphin. Instead, they held the poor dolphin out of water to take pictures. Eventually, the dolphin died.
