Hua Guofeng (华国锋), the successor picked by Mao Zedong, didn’t stay in power for long because he was outmaneuvered by Deng Xiaoping. He died on August 20, 2008. But surprised by many people, he will enjoy life after death because people in his hometown had constructed a 10-hectare tomb for him to rest.

According to internet users, the total cost could be 100 million yuan ($15 million) and the size is about 14 soccer fields. The design is similar to that for Sun Yat-sen, founder of the Republic of China (1912-49).

The city and province authorities fired back. They claim the actual area is 4,260 square meters, or about 16 tennis courts and local government spent about 12 million yuan ($1.8 million).

But still, twelve million yuan is a lot of money. Is it worth to spent that amount of money for a person’s tomb?
