A Home in Northern Shaanxi, China

Source: Du Keqin’s blog

Shanbei is located in northern Shaanxi province of China. Shanbei is the base of the Communists when they were forced to escape from their Jiangxi Soviet after Long March. They stayed there for eight years during the Anti-Japanese War (WWII). Now, the peasants who are left behind are still living in such houses.

Look at the posters on the wall – All propaganda. I recently posted another picture “A ‘modern house’ with modern wall on one side only“. Both examples are Chinese versions of “Potemkin village“.
