China’s Tiangong Lab

According to Xinhua news, “China will launch Tiangong-1 (TG-1) Space Module in 2011” one year later than planned. The Chinese news didn’t specify the reason of the delay, but the English report by Space Daily quoted it as “technical reasons“. In Chinese, the word “Tian Gong” (天宫) means “Heaven Palace”. So, this module will be the start of China’s space labotory. But its size is far from a palace: the interior diameter is only 0.8 m (2.6 ft). Here are more pictures of the mystery spacelab.
