A Bridge Formed by Two Trees of 800 Years Old

a bridge formed by two trees of 800 years old

In Pan Kong village, Wuyuan County (婺源县) of Jiangxi Province, an arch bridge formed by trees is well preserved. Local residence names it as “Free Arch Bridge” (树拱桥). It is the twist of two trees: a cinnamomum camphora (樟树) and a decaisnea fargesii (杞树). For some reasons, both trees leaned toward the creek between them. They finally touched and grow together. In the past, villagers went across the creek over this bridge. Nowadays, it has been banned for the sake of protection.
