KCBS and Larry Page

This was a blog post that I wrote on July 13, 2006.

KCBS has a “Hawaii Contest” during the month of July. To participate, one needs to listen to KCBS at 7:40 a.m. (weekdays) for the newsmaker of the day. Then at 4:40 in the afternoon to hear again for a phone number to call in. If one is lucky, he will win a pair of round-trip tickets to Hawaii aboard Hawaiian Airlines with non-stop service from San Francisco and San Jose.

On July 10, one of the richest man in the world was the lucky winner: The CEO of Google Larry Page. One interpretation could be: Larry has broad interest and it happened that he knew about that newsmaker of the day. Another interpretation could be: Larry was really good in searching and he found (or assigned one of his employee to find) about the newsmaker between 7:40 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. Who knows.

In any event, the round-trip tickets to Hawaii are wasted for sure.
